scouting report S. Bullock
02/14/18 It's Valentines Day 2018 and I discovered a new Thai place in the neighborhood! My wife and I went to Thai Duvall for lunch today and it was nothing short of spectacular. This little place actually outside our neighborhood though and in a place where most Seattleites would rarely frequent or visit. It's only 7 miles east of our hometown but in a rural location affectionately known as "The Snoqualmie Valley". The actual city is Duvall with only about 7000 people and it sits between two other hotspots in Monroe and Carnation. If you haven't been to any of those places you are not alone. Most surprising is that this place has been operating out of Duvall for the past 20 years. It's family run and the food is fresh and authentic. We got started with the "Fresh Rolls" for appetizers and although simple and straightforward they were absolutely fantastic. Next up was the "Tom Ka Gai" soup. I don't think I have ever gone wrong with this exotic soup and today was no exception. Both sweet and spicy soup it keeps your taste buds working. The ingredients are rather simple... coconut milk, tender pieces of chicken, lemon grass, onions, and fresh mushrooms, all topped with parsley and chili oil. It looks like a bay leaf was tossed in their too but the menu says they are margrood leaves. That's a new one for me! Either way, this soup was a hit on V-Day 2018.
