Shrimp and grits: a classic southern dish that I was very foolish to not enjoy until I was in college. Thankfully, my eyes were opened and I've enjoyed the dish ever since I had it at a friend's wedding. A truly awesome savory dish that's tough to make disappointing. At Leli's, a nice modern-diner with a great diverse menu, they do their best to make this a bigtime bite. Their shrimp and grits has the main ingredients, shrimp and chedder grits, with Andouille sausage, Bacon, Peppers, Onions, and Tomato. It was great overall. The sausage was very flavorful and really added a nice brightness to this dish. The shrimp were cooked well and were pretty huge. The grits were also done very well, and the bacon and other additions really helped to complete this nice rendition of a classic dish. The only critique I would have is that it needed just a little salt, but other than that it was a great savory dish. The highlight was certainly the sausage and shrimp, though. They brought a phenomenal flavor to the dish that truly made this Bigtime.
