03/01/18 Steak & Eggs Tartare at Neptune Oyster House in Boston, MA. One of my all-time favorite places to dine, Neptune Oyster House has the best lobster roll in the world, in my opinion (a Hall of Fame dish on Bigtime Bites), but don’t sleep on their steak tartare. I love a good steak tartare, and Neptune’s version is terrific. Super fresh Creekstone Farms hanger steak is mixed with Greek olive oil, chives, and sea salt. A tasty bed of caviar on top of the steak gives it a unique flair not typically found in a tartare and the resulting blend of flavors is bold, yet light and refreshing at the same time. The steak was accompanied by a traditional tartare mustard made of capers, Worcestershire sauce, shallots, and Dijon mustard. Neptune Oyster is vibrant, bustling, small, and cozy all at the same time and doesn’t take reservations. A line starts forming prior to its opening and continues throughout the day, but it’s definitely well worth the wait. They have a diverse menu with friendly staff and amazingly fresh seafood. Besides their incredible lobster roll, I also love their clam chowder, oysters, bay scallops, fried clams, and daily crudo. This place is BIGTIME - don’t miss it if you’re ever in the Boston area!
