scouting report L. Thach
03/03/18 After trying a few different Korean bbq spots, I’ve always come back to the first charcoal spot I ate at in metro ATL, 678 Korean BBQ. It is always the first destination when friends from out of town arrive. A clear definition of a Hall of Famer. When hungry go all you can eat for $30 but be warned you’ll only be able to get pork but they recently added beef brisket. When there is 4-6 people with you, get a tray and a few side orders. Which is a move worthy of the highlight reel. Beef tray and a side of spicy pork belly. Here their meets are of quality and on the beef tray you’ll get servings of Galbi, prime rib, rib eye, brisket, season short ribs, and rib fingers. Your server will cook unseasoned meats first to control smoke and move towards seasoned meats. So take advantage of the saam (wraps) you can make with you the sesame leaves, lettuce, cucumber, peppers and carrots early with the dipping sauce. Or keep simple like I do with the salt and sesame oil dip. The variety of banchan isn’t as great as other places but the salads, sauces, cheese corn, kimchi, and egg mote is one of the best. The server will close you meal with a noodle hot pot freshly cooked at your table. The place is usually packed and opened late with the beef tray coming in at $115 it’s a great meal to split among 4 friends.
