A La Mode Creamery is a mobile ice cream truck that makes rolled ice cream. It's in a small school bus, which makes it very hard to miss and very appealing. Honestly, I don't know how you could see this and not want to go. I was lucky enough to catch them on the last day that they were making their king cake ice cream. They take king cake, and just roll it into the vanilla ice cream while they're making it and throw a piece of king cake on top of the finished product. It's that simple. And for something so simple, it is very very good. The ice cream is made to order, so the moment you finish your order, the guys hops over to the anti-griddle and starts making it. The king cake was great, and it created a wonderful cinnamon and cream cheese ice cream that was surprisingly not too sweet. In a land overpopulated with king cake flavored desserts (think pumpkin spice, but only for about 3 weeks), this one stood out because it didn't try too hard. They just made ice cream infused with king cake, and they did a fantastic job with it. I think it maybe lasted a minute in my hands at the most, because after the first bite I couldn't stop. It's a Bigtime dessert from a fun little food truck that is like no other place in my hometown.
