Chai Pani is a fun spot in Downtown Asheville that slings really good casual Indian food. For being a hole-in-the-wall in western NC, the legit Indian food was somewhat of a surprise. We got a few different dishes, all of which were distinctive and delicious, and the aloo tiki chaat was definitely our favorite. There were a ton of different flavors and textures working in perfect harmony. At the base of the plate is a garbanzo bean stew with a little kick that I would gladly eat on its own. On top of that are two potato fritters that are topped with a couple chutneys, red onions, yogurt sauce, and finally some crunchy noodles. Each individual aspect plays its part well, amounting to a borderline all-star dish - we will be back for this dish whenever we are in AVL.
