Three-Flavor Whole Fish (Pla Sarm Ros) at Thai House in Charlotte, NC. Terrific whole fish at the best Thai restaurant in the Charlotte area. The tilapia was good size (can easily feed 4 people with regular appetites or 2-3 people with “Cho” appetites) and perfectly deep fried - light and crispy on the outside, yet nice and moist on the inside. Chopped garlic, fresh chili, and tamarind sauce gave the dish unique flavors that were sweet, sour, and a tad spicy all at the same time. The broccoli and basil that accompanied the fish complemented the dish nicely and I loved that the basil itself was lightly fried to give it some crunch as well. Thai House is locally owned and operated by a family of Thai descent and has four locations (Pineville, University, Lake Norman, and Gastonia). Serving traditional Thai cuisine, they are open for both lunch and dinner and have a large, diverse menu with friendly service. I also love their Pineapple Fried Rice with Chinese Sausage, Larb, and Tom Kha Gai Soup (ask for the Rich Cho spicy red version at the Pineville location).
