A friend of mine recently recommended that I check out the documentary series "Ugly Delicious" on Netflix starring Chef David Chang (of Momofuku fame). In one episode, where David delves into the history and cultural impact of Chinese cuisine, he visits one of the many Chinese areas of Toronto and ate the most phenomenal looking lobster dish I had ever seen. I'm not saying I went to Toronto JUST to eat here, but if I did, I would not have been disappointed! The lobster is so amazing. I'm smiling just reminiscing about it now! It's very lightly fried with garlic (lots of garlic) and it just explodes with flavor. There's so much thought and precision to how they cut the lobster to make every bite meaty, juicy, and easy to remove from the shell. It's such an event to watch the waiters bring these mouth-watering mountains to the table that everyone in the restaurant pauses to snap pics as the next table gets their order. There simply is no other way to have lobster. We ordered this 6+ pound lobster as part of a Hong Kong-style family meal for 4, which also came with soup, crab fried rice, steamed fish, and dessert all for under $150.00 USD. Since coming home, I've legitimately checked airline prices every week or so just to see if I can afford a quick trip back up to Toronto solely for more lobster. In fact, let me check Air Canada flights right now...
