Pork Adobada Taco at Los Tacos No. 1 in New York, NY. Besides sushi, the one thing I could probably eat every single day is a good taco. Los Tacos No. 1 is an authentic Mexican joint whose Pork Adobada tacos I would put right up there with tacos I’ve had anywhere, including in Mexico. The pork itself is marinated and hand shaved from a rotating spit fire. Because of the spit fire flame, the pork shavings have a slight bit of char on them, giving them a little texture and making them even that much tastier. The tortillas (you can choose corn or flour) are hand-made and I love the fact that they have a tad bit of grease on them, adding to the flavor and authenticity of the taco. Onions, cilantro, guacamole, and salsa are standard on the taco, although you are free to omit ingredients as you please. Two thin slices of pineapple round out the taco, providing a unique and refreshing way to offset the salsa, which is a tad on the spicy side. Los Tacos No. 1 has two locations - one near the heart of Times Square and the other in Chelsea Market. Both locations are bustling with customers and although the line may seem long, they have a system in which the line seems to move fast, so don’t be deterred. One of my go-to dishes whenever I’m in the City!!
