08/31/18 Super Mega Bien is an awesome spot attached to a hip boutique hotel in Denver's RiNo neighborhood, just north of the heart of Downtown. SMB melds Latin American cuisine with Chinese dim sum. Waiters carry around trays that you can pick small plates off of - we went with ropa vieja (Cuban braised beef), stuffed peppers, and ceviche, and all of them were solid and probably rotation quality. SMB also does a few larger dishes, including this roasted duck. Reminiscent of Peking duck, this bird was coated in a tangy chipotle honey glaze. In the perfect bite, you get that sweet and sour sauce, crispy skin, a little bit of fat, and tender and salty meat. Tough to beat. It comes with a crunchy slaw to brighten and lighten things up, as well as a couple gordita shells that serve as a pretty good vehicle for getting the food into your mouth. There is also extra sauce provided, but I'd go easy on adding extra sauce - it is very good as a glaze but could be over-powering if you completely douse a bite. My wife and I also got a pitcher of their green sangria, which was really unique. It tastes like a boozy version of something you'd get at a high end juice bar (in a good way) and was extremely refreshing. All told, SMB is well worth a stop if you're in Denver and want to explore a funky neighborhood.
