01/08/19 Drop the Mic at Shuko in New York, NY. “Drop the Mic” is a term used when a person intentionally drops their microphone at the end of a performance or speech as an expression of triumph. Comprised of an amazing medley of bluefin tuna, uni, osetra caviar, and gold leaf, Drop the Mic at Shuko is aptly named, as it was the culmination of a fantastic meal. Owned and operated by renowned chefs Nick Kim and Jimmy Lau, Shuko spares no expense in ensuring their ingredients are fresh and second to none. Shuko serves two different tasting menus - an omakase and a slightly higher priced kaiseki. They also have a nightly sheet of supplements that shouldn’t be missed. Splurge for the A5 wagyu supplement, as it’s quite possibly the best piece of beef I’ve ever tasted. With incredible food and terrific service in an intimate and cozy environment, Shuko is one of my favorite sushi joints anywhere, and a must visit anytime I’m in the Big Apple. Located in Greenwich Village, Shuko can be hard to get into (plan in advance) and doesn’t have a sign in front of the restaurant. Don’t miss it next time you’re in NYC!
