07/11/17 New Zealand Snapper Sashimi at Perry St. in New York, NY. Most people (including me) typically associate sashimi with a sushi joint, but one thing I've noticed is that some of the best sashimi/crudo dishes I've ever had have come from non-Japanese restaurants that don't specialize in sushi. Places like @neptuneoysterbar and @ostraboston in Boston and @michaelsgenuine in Miami serve great food overall and also have one or two sashimi/crudo items on the menu that are outstanding. That's the case here with Perry St.'s New Zealand Snapper Sashimi, which is served with lemon, crispy skin (which gives it some crunch), and a trace of olive oil drizzled on top. It's super fresh and the flavors jump out at you as soon as you put it into your mouth. Perry St. is a Jean-George's restaurant and one of my favorite spots in the country. I would characterize it as New American with a little French and Asian flair. My other go-to dishes here are the Rice Cracker Crusted Tuna, Black Sea Bass, and the Fried Chicken.
