07/02/20 Another za review, can’t get enough. This was actually my first corona pizza (that sounds weird), quarantine pie (much better) and last normal dine in experience pre COVID-19 at Due Amici. I remember vividly everyone was glued to the hanging TV they have by the front door watching President Trump announcing live that no more than 10 people will be allowed in social gatherings at any location. The feeling in the air was full of fear of the unknown and anxiety over how this virus would affect us all. This pizza is similar to a grandma’s pie (on their menu as well), just not poofed in an olive oil drizzled pan and square cut with thin mozzarella. Pretty dang solid pie. This is one of their most popular menu items. Supposedly the best NY style pizza in town as they claim. They have a large fan base that testifies too. The mozzarella blankets a thick coating which I enjoyed. Gobs of tomato pizza sauce put on last and dispersed evenly throughout the top like mini lily pads in a pond. Got to admire the decision to share the sauce and spread it with love. Crust was decent, more on the firmer spectrum, but not brick hard. I’m definitely going to try another pizza, maybe the stuffed meat lovers or white pizza is on the horizon. Pandemic pizza’s have been my jam and this receives an overall score of 7.9/10.
