Neat little chocolate shop up in Birkdale Village that also serves ice cream and a variety of decadent desserts. Has a candy shop type energy inside and you really do get that kid in a candy shop feeling once you enter the bright store and get your eyes flashed with caramel apples, peanut butter fudge bars, chocolates galore, and colorful ice cream flavors. Always asking the staff on my first visit anywhere what their favorite flavor is, he recommended cake batter. So for my first scoop I went cake batter without even going for the sample. I normally always trust an ice cream scoopers number one preference, unless it’s chocolate. Yup, I entered a chocolate shop, but didn’t try their chocolate ice cream. Just not a fan. Vanilla base me all day. For my second scoop to top it off, this Birkdale Mud flavor captured me. A special local tribute hence the name, it was the correct play call on my first in store visit. Vanilla base ice cream with caramel infused + chocolate chips. Yum. The ice cream is decent here. Very creamy. Melts pretty quickly, so you’ll end up with a milkshake unless enjoyed ASAP. Not bad at all though. With many locations scattered around the east coast, all their ice cream is made and shipped from their headquarters in Michigan. This is my first time hearing of Kilwins and walking into a shop known for their chocolate it’s only proper I try one of their awesome looking fudge bars. Of course I got the peanut butter chocolate chunk gem, but they have a variety of choices from cookies ‘n cream to white chocolate walnut to sea salt caramel just to name a few. These things rock and the fudge is so soft on the inside, it’s crazy. Was warned not to refrigerate or else they’ll turn stone solid since they don’t use any preservatives while preparing them in-house on location daily. Overall was pleased on my visit to get some fudge + ice cream.
