07/09/20 Moment of silence for Kobe “Bean” Bryant. The renowned Japanese cut of meat, Kobe beef, is what his parents have named him after, garnering the idea from a menu at a Japanese restaurant. This roll was my favorite at Yama Sushi. I could eat three rolls (8/24 pieces) of this spicy tuna and cucumber topped with seared avocado and Kobe beef, wasabi mayo, cilantro, unagi sauce, and hot sauce. Yes, this is the perfect sushi roll named after one of the all-time greats to ever play the game of basketball. It was a tolerable spicy and came with some heat just like Kobe’s jumper. Everything danced together so gracefully like Kobe’s on-court game, once it tipped your tongue you were showcased a variety of skill sets. The premium beef was a tomahawk jam, the sauce had handles with flare, and the tuna and avo were phenomenal teammates providing alley-oops and game highs in assists. The perfected measured ratio of rice to roll made this sushi delicacy a complete overall high scoring package. This succulent sushi roll will excite your palate. The Kobe Roll is a true MVP. The other roll pictured is the Aburi Hamachi. Another really good roll offered on the specialty menu at Yama. Avocado, cucumber, asparagus, topped with seared yellowtail, yuzu kosho, and black tobiko. This place is in my families top rotation for sushi nights and we love the dining experience every single game. We’re season ticket holders. Also order the volcano roll. Warning: pure eruption to be felt. In ultimate homage to the greatest Laker ever, I hereby announce the enshrinement of the Kobe Roll to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. May he Rest In Peace.
