New bakery in town right off exit 28 (hence the name, Bakery 28). This place is in the running for best oatmeal creme pie in Charlotte. Tremendously tasty and large sized. One of the best I’ve had, top 3 in the city easily. The oatmeal cookie is super soft and crumbles with each bite so you’ll have to utilize the pastry wrapper they serve it on to strategically enjoy without losing any precious bits. The cream cheese icing is very creamy and it’s made with two simple ingredients - cream cheese and butter. Many bakeries tend to go half and half with icings utilizing a blend of cream cheese and shortening, but here at Bakery 28 it’s more cream cheese dominant. I was pretty blown away at how delicious this was. I immediately went back and got another one. Staff here are friendly and charming and they just opened up pre corona (approx. a week prior to lockdown) so I know once the pandemic ends (fingers tightly crossed), this place will catch some buzz. You know what, I’ll say it and make it official - this is the best oatmeal creme pie I have had so far in town. It’ll be really tough to beat this one, and I believe they’ll hold the #1 spot for a good bit of time.
