A popular chicken dish at Taste of Shu, the diced chicken with dried pepper Chongqing-Style is definitely worth ordering with your dinner. It tasted like little popcorn shrimp with it being so fried up, I could barely get any chicken taste from 90% of the pieces. Not sure if that’s the way it was supposed to be prepped or not, but I did enjoy it though. Different from lot of chicken dishes I’ve had. Very airy and crunchy with little to no substance of meat inside. Lots of good flavor to it and far from bland, it even carried breaths of spiciness. I didn’t dare touch any of the dried peppers as I once had a similar looking dish to this and my chopsticks found a pepper first bite and it ruined the entire meal. I didn’t think much of it at the time and absolutely did not think that tiny little pepper would pack that much of a punch, but it demolished off my tastebuds and my tongue was fighting a steady battle like in the movie 300. I actually felt like I was dining in hell with Gerald Butler. Anyways, a solid poultry dish and something to enhance your overall meal with at Taste of Shu.
