09/09/20 You’ve never tried anything like this before. Holy cow. This was a monster Philly cheese and enormous props to Sumo Shack and their radical rendition of this cheesesteak. Let’s start with the grilled Kimchi being the star of the plate. An awesomely creative spin opting to use the traditional Korean dish in a Philly cheese sub, I tip my hat all the way off to you Mr. Sumo. Growing up eating Kimchi with almost every meal, this side dish has a very special place in my heart. Who would of ever thought this would blend in a Philly cheesesteak? The Korean BBQ ribeye hits severely hard along with bacon crumbles, grilled onions, scallions, provolone, havarti, cheese sauce, bulgogi sauce, and last but not least, French fries. The fries add a whole another dynamic to this beast mode sandwich. With every crunchy bite of fries, I kept thinking to myself, this meshes so much better on this sub than it does in a California burrito. Big time addition. I was savoring the fully loaded bites of Korean BBQ that was packed into this sub. Extra juicy, mega flavorful, and heaps of ribeye all on go. The bun was a game changer. On my very first visit to the Sumo Shack, they were out of their normal buns and when I ordered the OG Philly, something just didn’t sit right with the alternative buns being used. Now that their regular buns are back in stock, super soft, poofy, and lightly toasted, it makes tremendous amounts of difference being the base under support and carriage to all this goodness. This was the best most unique version of a sandwich I’ve ever had. Totally out of the box thinking done here and a must order franchise item at the shack.
