Arroz Con Negro at Bar 167 in Charleston, SC. I love a great tuna tartare, but it had been awhile since I had one that I said “wow” after taking the first bite. Bar 167’s version was outstanding, as it combined elements that, if eaten separately, would have been excellent in itself, but eaten together took the dish to a whole different level. Sashimi grade tuna layered on top of crispy black rice provided a terrific blend of textures and flavors without compromising the individual components of the dish. The drops of aioli tied the whole thing together without being too overpowering. Bar 167 is one of the sister restaurants to the insanely popular 167 Raw (one of my favorite restaurants in Charleston). It’s a great place to grab a small bite or drink while on the wait list for 167 Raw or to have a full meal in itself. Don’t miss this unique, Bigtime, dish next time you’re in Charleston!
