09/05/25 Wagyu with Foie Gras Hand Roll at Yankii Robatayaki in Bangkok, Thailand. I have a thing for Japanese Robatayaki (a method of cooking over extremely hot charcoal), and in particular, charcoal grilled skewers of chicken hearts and chicken skin. Somehow I was fortunate to stumble upon Yankii, which serves some of the best chicken hearts and chicken skin I’ve ever had. While there, I tried this Wagyu with Foie Gras Hand Roll, which was spectacular. Tender, melt in your mouth wagyu combined with the richness of the foie gras gave it a combination of flavors I hadn’t experienced before in a hand roll. Yankii has an extensive robata menu in a fun environment where the chefs hand the dishes to you with a long broom-like serving platter immediately after it comes off the charcoal grill. I love that the chefs are constantly seasoning the meats and vegetables as they are turning them over on the coals. Located on Soi 24 in the Sukhumvit area next to the SkyView hotel, Yankii has great service and a staff that is ready to please. I also loved the Wagyu with Uni Hand Roll, Chicken Shoulder, and Japanese Wagyu A5 Steak.
