When it comes to seafood, I like the fish. But, on my latest adventure to the Croatian Pelješac Peninsula, I stopped at a random hut over the water near the town of Drace to partake in, yes, I cannot believe it, Oysters! It' really just a non-descript building with a hut over the water. We ordered the oysters and our server brought us a basket of homemade bread, lemons and Tabasco. I glanced over at the water surrounding our hut and noticed that the server was pulling our oysters from the Adriatic sea. The adults slid the oysters on the half shell into our mouths. Truth be told, I swallowed it whole and followed it with a shot of locally grown wine and a thick slice of the homemade bread. There! I did it! I wasn't too "sea foody" and was a great adventure to share with family. The "expert" at the table said they were the best he'd ever have. So, when in Rome, or Croatia, just do it, and eat the freshest oysters you can get at the Oyster Buffet!
