Persimmon Cafe may be the best sandwich shop ever. Shout out to my friend Matt McKay for taking me here on one of our business trips to Charleston. Everything is unique from the ambiance to the variety of sandwiches (its located in a college laundromat). A simple menu, but creative and full of options. My favorite sandwich of all time is the grilled Butternut Squash on focaccia bread. A great option if you are vegetarian or not. It is sweet, savory, and full of texture. The bread comes coated with curry cashew butter and honey. The butternut squashed sliced and grilled and then layered with some goat cheese. Grilling the squash brings out its full flavor. The curry cashew butter, goat cheese, and honey then take things to another level. This place a winner and on a college student's budget! Get a side of their Orzo Pasta Salad and you have an incredible lunch. If you are not a butternut squash fan then go for their curry chicken sandwich or zucchini panini . Everything tasty but personally it's hard for me to get anything but the Butternut Squash!
