Gjusta (sister restaurant to Gjelina - also very Bigtime), is a bakery/deli/cafe in Venice, that overwhelms your senses the moment you walk through the unmarked (this place looks like an abandoned building from the street) front door. This is the type of place where I would try anything they put in front of me, because everything they make looks and smells wonderful. The first word that comes to mind when describing Gjusta's extensive menu is "colorful." Fresh breads, pastries, produce, flatbreads, and salads are just some examples of the deliciousness that fills the cases along the long, narrow, standing-room only space, which opens up to a larger outdoor seating area. This is where I sat on a picnic table surrounded by hipsters and enjoyed a waffle that puts nearby Roscoe’s to shame. These squares made of multi-grain and porridge taste much better than they sound - Gjusta serves them golden brown and tops them with seasonal fruit and real maple syrup. Are you hungry, yet?
