Prior to dining at Cheever's, I never would have guessed that a seafood dish in Oklahoma City would be literally worth writing home about, but this historic florist shop-turned-restaurant helped prove me wrong on a recent scouting trip through the midwest. Everything I tried here was good (the quinoa avocado salad was also Bigtime), but the Five Spice Trout is what really endeared me most to OKC's underrated food scene. This flavorful fish sat atop a bed of tequila-lime butter sautéed spinach and sweet corn sun-dried tomato masa pancakes. The subtle heat from the five spice blend on the fish was perfectly complemented by the sweet-tasting masa pancakes and the spinach made me feel a little bit healthier about myself considering all of that tequila-lime butter.
