07/30/17 If you ever travel to Vietnam, you should definitely try the "cua rang me", which translates to "tamarind crab". I love crab that is simply steamed and eaten with hot butter, but cua rang me surprised me because the tamarind sauce provided A LOT more flavor and it still did not overpower the crab. This crab is different because it is actually fried in a wok in sesame oil with garlic, onion, and red pepper and then tossed and coated with tamarind sauce. Also, everything is super fresh with the crabs coming straight from the river and even the sauce is made fresh from the tamarind fruit and not coming out of a jar. I ate this dish many times in Vietnam and am rating it an All-Star level because it was pretty similar no matter which restaurant I devoured it at. The other great thing about cua rang me is that 3 decent-sized whole crabs were less then $10 total!
