The Boss Hog Burger at hopdoddy in Dallas, TX. I am undyingly loyal to hopdoddy burger bar, which started on South Congress in Austin and has been my favorite burger joint since college. They bake their buns and grind their beef in-house. I really like the creativity of their burger and milkshake specials. Sometimes the ingredients sound weird, but somehow they always come together really well. Also, a lot of burger places nowadays do these ridiculous burgers with like a tower of onion rings or something similar that looks cool in a picture, but I still appreciate functionality where the burger can easily be eaten and all the ingredients don’t feel forced.
The Boss Hog is this month’s burger special (for reference, this month’s shake flavor is peach cobbler). Angus beef, pulled pork, apple smoked bacon, Tillamook cheddar, sweet mustard BBQ sauce, onions, and jalapeno coleslaw on a toasted egg bun. All the ingredients complement each other perfectly like a pulled pork BBQ plate on top of a burger. If you ever find yourself in a city with a hopdoddy location, grab a burger, shake, and fries and you will not be disappointed.
