German
scouting report A. Vinzant
08/04/17 I can't pass up schnitzel, so when I saw it on the menu and the waiter said it was worth it, I took the chance. It paid off. Schnitzel is a popular German dish that only has maybe 100 different forms. This one was a thicker than usual (think almost pancake sized) sized cut of pork fried to perfection. Seriously, it was cooked perfectly. It also came with a side of SpƤtzle (I, unashamedly, had to google the spelling of this) which is a slightly larger than rice egg noodle ball; they're very interesting. Unlike most schnitzel, this one did not come with a sauce poured on top, which allowed me just to taste how great the pork was, and there was a ton of it on my plate; it was a very generous serving. To add to that, the entire plate under the schnitzel was covered with the best spatzle I've had outside of Germany. I can confidently say that this was the best schnitzel I've had that wasn't homemade, and I could not finish all of it. The serving size and the price of this dish make it a definite rotation dish for my future visits here. The menu here is not very extensive, but what they have, they do well. The pork was great and the spatzle was the perfect compliment to it. The only complaint I could possibly have is that it was missing something to balance out the savory flavors, but since the savory flavors were so enjoyable, it didn't take away from the experience. The atmosphere at this restaurant definitely made it worth the visit. It's a slightly above casual level restaurant, but you can see the chefs doing their work which always exponentially increases my love for a place. The great atmosphere paired with a simple, yet complex, menu make this place a Big Time Bite.
