It is somewhat unusual to become a celebrity chef first and then open restaurants that are critically acclaimed; Curtis Stone is a case in point. Maude, his first restaurant, is one of the better restaurants in the USA. Tickets are hard to come by. Gwen is more low key. There is a small retail area to buy meat at the entrance. Gwen is a very meat-centric restaurant. There are a couple of tasting menu options. The Saturday night that I went, Gwen was 60 percent full. It deserves much better from LA diners. My meal was super-solid which was highlighted by this well-executed short rib. Moreover, the quality of the short rib was high.
