08/20/17 I love a good Philly about as much as I love the Rocky movies, and this food truck combines both of those so I was pretty excited when I saw it. King's is a food truck around the RDU-Wake Forest area that's run by a couple from Philly. Their menu is filled with Philadelphian pop-culture references (example: Italian Stallion) and some great spins on the classic Philly Cheesesteak. I decided to go for a personal favorite of mine that they added even more to: a pepperoni Philly with marinara sauce. My only slight issue I've ever had with the Philly is that it's usually too savory, but I get over because it's a wonderful creation. This sandwich solved that issue. The wonderful steak, paired with the large pepperonis used on this sandwich were met with a little kick from the peppers and perfected by the addition of the marinara sauce. It added just enough sweetness to balance out the savory flavors of this awesome sandwich. It was difficult to eat as a sandwich since there was so much on it, but they gave me a knife and fork and I conquered the challenge set before me. It definitely cracked my top 5 Phillys. It was just such an amazing combination of flavors and there are so many other interesting options here that I have to track it down again soon. It's just a fun food truck experience and it made this dish a true All-Star.
