Churros are fried sticks of dough. That's it. Very simple, very easy to make, but hard to make stand out. That's why I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first bite of these and enjoyed it so much that I decided to do a report on them. Tlaquepaque is the name of city in Mexico, the country where this simple little delicious snack originated. What separates these churros from the rest of the very crowded herd is also pretty simple: the filling. When I think of a good churro, I think of a perfectly fried stick of dough with brown sugar cinnamon on top with chocolate and a filling, which is exactly what these were. It was fried to a perfect crisp and filled with just enough dulce de leche to surprise you and make it special. I should also note that the presentation was very impressive for it to be such a simple little snack. I was very pleased with these and I'll definitely be swinging by this restaurant often to pick some up for the road. When you can take something so simple and make it great, you deserve some recognition.
