Kobe Tataki at Agave Azul in Playa Del Carmen, MX. I like my steaks somewhere between rare to medium rare, so whenever I get a chance to have steak tartare or beef tataki (whether at a steak restaurant, sushi joint, or other type of restaurant), count me in. Agave Azul's version of beef tataki was terrific, as their Kobe wagyu beef was topped with ponzu sauce, spicy daikon, chives, and olive crumbs and was perfectly proportioned so no accompaniment was too overwhelming. The beef was thinly sliced and so tender that it practically melted in my mouth, bringing out all the flavors in this simple yet complex dish. I also loved their Usuzukuri. Agave Azul is located in the beautiful Rosewood Mayakoba resort, which undoubtedly has the best service I've ever experienced.
