The recent boom in gourmet donuts has made me a very happy man. That being said, when I found a place called Rise that does biscuit sandwiches AND donuts, I was pretty excited. I followed my chicken bacon biscuit with a s'mores donut. S'mores are my favorite treat, so anytime I find something that's s'mores style I can't resist the urge to try it out. That being said, there are tons of s'mores donuts out there, but this was one of my favorites. It's a regular glazed donut with chocolate icing, and instead of it being filled like most s'mores donuts I've had, they just made a dent in the middle of the donut and put a ton of marshmallow creme in it. On top of all of that was the graham cracker crumble. It had just the right amount of all the ingredients to keep it from being overwhelming but still deliver that classic s'mores taste. The only thing that was a little too much was the marshmallow creme, but I absolutely love marshmallow creme. By itself, it was a fantastic donut, but alongside the chicken bacon biscuit, it really made this meal one that I will remember. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun little bite for lunch or a good donut. Next up for me is their maple bacon donut.
