While recovering from my 5K, I had a chance to flip through my Westways Magazine (that magazine you get from AAA) and checked out their various SoCal recommendations. They actually had a page on matcha!!! If you haven't read the other reviews recently, I am currently going through a matcha phase. Matcha is from green tea leaves.
So, for breakfast the follow day, I heeded their advice and headed to Cafe Dulce. I have been to Cafe Dulce before and got donuts and other pastries. This time, thought I should try Westway Magazine's recommendation: matcha roti and coffee, black. It was perfect.
The roti was the perfect breakfast pastry because it's not too sweet. Even though it has condensed inside, it's not creamy; the cream is within the dough. It gives it a light, spongy texture. It also doesn't feel heavy to eat, like a danish or a donut. It's a lot like the concha pan dulce, with filling. They have roti with other flavors, which I will try. But I definitely enjoyed the green tea roti.
I Will let you know if I try any other Westways Mag recommendation.
