09/08/17 Rooster's is a rock solid lunch option for those in or around uptown Charlotte. I'd feel comfortable endorsing other menu items, as well (especially the wings...and I'm not a "wing guy," so that's really saying something), but my go-to here is the meatloaf. There's nothing grandiose about this bigtime dish, it's just really consistently tasty and satisfying. I'm incapable of dining at this place and NOT ordering it! Automatic rotation dish, in my book. They glaze the generous portion of meat in vinegar-based BBQ (this is North Carolina, afterall) and place it over a bed of wilted spinach and puréed sweet potatoes. All of these come together quite well, and the tobacco onion rings (not greasy at all, which is nice) really accentuate this dish by adding another level of texture and flavor. Important to note: the meatloaf is only available on the lunch menu.
