May St. Cafe serves one of the best known escargot dishes in the Windy City. My friends and I tend to be on the adventurous side when trying foods and if escargot (snails) or any offal parts are on the menu, we're in.... The Strawberry Escargot we ordered at May St. was memorable. First the presentation is creative with it being served in small flaky pastry cups that are baked to a golden color with crispy edges. The pastry cups provide the perfect edible reason to not use any eating utensils and help mellow the flavors from the sauce and escargot. The escargot is covered in a strawberry drizzle with tiny chunks of strawberry still visible. The drizzle is sweet and sour and complements the chewy, meaty escargot which has been cooked in a buttery pan giving it a slight salty taste. This appetizer goes for $8.50 and is the perfect start to a meal or if like me, order it for dessert as well (no judgements here). Enjoy May St. Cafe. Till the next one ✌🏽
