scouting report A. Vinzant
09/13/17 Waba is located on a corner in Raleigh situated next to a popular Thai restaurant. It is a very small entrance that you will more than likely miss if you are not looking for it. You enter in and walk up a stairway to the counter where you order. They have bulgogi and a couple of other dishes and they apparently have a very popular stew and ramen selection. Everything on the menu is less than $10 with the exception of their special dish. I went with the spicy pork bulgogi because that's what I was hungry for. Simple enough. It lived up to the name. It was a very flavorful mixture of pork bathed in gochujang (Korean chili paste) with some kimchi. It was very spicy, but very good. The only thing it really needed was something to balance the spicyness of the pork, which made me thankful for the rice. It really was a great pork bulgogi dish with the rice and at a very affordable price.I think it's a fantastic lunch spot and I definitely plan on returning to try the bibimbap. It was a great experience and felt like an adventure finding a great hole in the wall lunch spot such as this!
