I grew up in Houston, so I've had my fair share of Po' Boys. Typically, it's a fried seafood item (shrimp, crawfish, etc.) with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo on French bread. But the Sea Scallop Po' Boy at 167 Raw deviates from that traditional preparation. First of all, this sandwich will run you about $18, but as you can see from the picture, you get 6 large sea scallops packed in a roll (same roll 167 uses for its lobster roll, which is also BIG TIME). To me, that is actually a good value because scallop entrees only come with about 4 or 5 scallops most of the time and can easily cost $25 or more. Here, the scallops were perfectly pan fried and not breaded/fried like a typical po' boy. And I have no idea what the purple and green sauces were, but it all came together really well. I've only been to Charleston a few times, but 167 Raw is still my favorite spot in town. The quality of their seafood is some of the best I have ever had.
