Bellaire Blvd in Houston is known for many a good Chinese meal. Many, including myself, first come to San Dong for their beef noodle soup. Over time, though, the beef broth dumplings have surpassed the beef noodle soup as my go-to “big-time bite” at San Dong.
Relatively inexpensive at about $7 for a sizeable bowl, the customer receives some fresh dumplings with pork in them. I have mine with pork and chives. It comes with bok choy and pickled veggies and I usually sprinkle some chili oil on top before devouring.
The beauty of this dish is that the beef broth, which is the same as used for their famed beef noodle soup, ensures each bite is moist and infused richly with flavor. Basically, the broth is a dip for the meat dumplings. The result is pure gloriousness.
Give this dish a shot. It’s inexpensive and delicious - a pretty good combo there.
