Sea Bass Tartare at Ostra in Boston, MA. This dish is the primary reason that Ostra is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. I would put this really unique tartare up against any type of tartare anywhere. The unbelievably fresh sea bass is topped with a burgundy black truffle carpaccio and comes with a fennel pollen crostini, which goes perfect with the dish, as it’s light enough that it doesn’t drown out the flavors of the tartare itself. Although it looks like a very simple dish, the flavors in it are incredible. This dish is BIGTIME in capital letters and one of my favorite dishes anywhere in the world! Ostra is a Mediterranean restaurant with a diverse menu and some amazing dishes. I also love their hamachi crudo, crisp native oysters, and ricotta gnochetti with Maine lobster. I like sitting in the bar/ lounge area, where they serve the full menu. Open for dinner only and late (until 11 pm) on Friday and Saturday nights.
