No donut I've eaten compares to the Orange Twist at Davis Donut House in Forest City, NC. Ever since my grandpa first took me to the original Davis in downtown Forest City more than 20 years ago, the Orange Twist has been the standard by which all my donuts -- and those enjoyed by my entire family -- are judged. The orange twist is a sweet and dense, yet flaky, twist of glazed dough, with an ever-so-subtle hint of orange flavor. Each one is maybe 8 inches long, big enough to satisfy your individual donut craving but also perhaps large enough to share with a friend. Be sure your fingers are clean before you take your first bite. You'll want to lick them clean afterward. The Orange Twist also stays fresh for a couple days -- if you want to buy a box to take home -- and pairs wonderfully with a cup of coffee!
