There are sandwiches and then there are tortas from Los Reyes de la Torta in Phoenix, AZ. La Reyna is one of the most popular items on their menu (that is mostly written in Spanish) and comes piled with ham, melted cheese, breaded chicken breast, breaded beef, omelette (fried scrambled egg), sausage (thinly sliced hot dog) tomatoes, onions, avocado and chipotle dressing plus potato chips and hot sauce on the side. Sure, you could make two or three other sandwiches out of La Reyna, but where's the fun in that? It's a challenge to get everything in one bite but a challenge worth accepting. The breaded meat is the star of the show, giving a savory flavor and crispness to the monstrous pile on your plate and don't sleep on the chips! Dip them into the hot sauce or whatever happens to fall out of the sandwich.
