This is my all-time favorite cheeseburger, one I've enjoyed since I was a young boy old enough to eat cheeseburgers. (And now I've eaten countless burgers across the entire United States. But this was my first and reigns as the best.) Kim and Clyde Millman have owned and operated Kim's Kitchen in this neighborhood about a half hour west of Charlotte, NC, since 1991. What pushes this burger above the rest? The meat, for starters. I've never had such simple, tender, flavorful, hearty beef on a burger. It's perfectly cooked for me, just to done, every time. No extra char or dry meat. It's so soft you can tear a burger apart with your hands if you want to. And it's plentiful, more like getting a hamburger steak on a jumbo bun (and for around $5 to $6)! That bun, unlike fast food burgers, is still fluffy, airy and soft, not smashed and soggy in packaging. The melted cheese on top adds this delightful gooey, creamy texture. And I like to top it off simply with a little lettuce and mayo most of the time. But occasionally I add a little crispy bacon, or sweet creamy slaw, or meaty chili and onions. However, as a burger purist, my favorite is to let the meat, bun and cheese do the talking to your tastebuds. I suggest leaving it at that. Kim will take care of the rest, and she'll come visit you every time you stop in to see how you and your food are doing. You might even get a hug. And what's better in this world than a warm friend and a perfect burger?
