10/24/17 When seeking out a bigtime bite, you're usually off to a good start when the establishment has no website. Kantun Paulina not only checks that box, but also delivers a sandwich so bigtime, I have craved that thing multiple times since experiencing it on a trip to Croatia last year. Since this is a place / dish that we literally stumbled upon one evening (then again on our last morning in town), I don't know much context or background, but that's what Wikipedia is for, right? "Ćevapi" or "ćevapčići" is a grilled dish (in this case, a sandwich), usually served with 5–10 pieces of sausage on a plate or in a flatbread (lepinje or somun), often with chopped onions, sour cream, kajmak, ajvar, feta cheese, minced red pepper and salt. Bosnian ćevapi are made from two types of minced beef meat, hand mixed and formed with a funnel, while formed ćevapi are grilled - I had the grilled version on this occasion. This bigtime bite is traditionally found in the countries of southeastern Europe (the Balkans). It's considered a national dish in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and are also common in Croatia (🙌🏼), Kosovo, Montenegro, Albania, Slovenia, as well as in Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania. This is the perfect meal to grab and go while exploring this beautiful city. Big assist to my lovely fiancé for discovering this hole-in-the-wall in downtown Split.
