10/28/17 Steamed Clams at Tre Rivali in Milwaukee, WI. I love a good steamed clams dish, but I get tired of the typical steamed clams with butter, garlic, and white wine sauce - it’s way too common, and I don’t find it too creative or flavorful. However, Tre Rivali’s version of steamed clams was both original and delicious, as it was accompanied by smoked paprika butter, salt roasted potatoes, hominy, and Spanish chorizo. The tasty orange broth had a hint of tomatoes and the smoked paprika gave it a slight kick. All the ingredients worked well together, and the clams and potatoes were cooked just right - not over cooked or undercooked in any manner. They definitely didn’t skimp on the clams, as there were well over a dozen clams. This dish can be an appetizer if shared but it’s also big enough to be an entree if eaten by one person, unless your appetite is huge (I ate this myself along with the scallop crudo, carbonara pasta and cheesecake and went away very content). Tre Rivali has a diverse menu for all palates and is located in the Journeyman Hotel in the Third Ward District. Knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive service. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and late (11 pm) on Friday and Saturday nights.
