While walking around Manhattan on a rare warm day in October, what better afternoon snack to share with friends than some ice cream! Dominique Ansel, known for his creative pastries, has opened Dominique Ansel Kitchen, a cafe that offers his pastries as well as savory soups and sandwiches. For a limited time, they offered Coldbrew Soft Serve, a delicious coffee ice cream with milk foam, anise biscotti and cocoa powder. The strong coffee flavor was amazing, and it was not bitter nor too sweet. The texture was light and slightly icy, which was refreshing as compared to the heavy, richness from ice creams like Haagen-Dazs. The anise biscotti was a creative touch and the cocoa powder and milk foam were a great visual touch. However, their flavors were over-powered by the coffee ice cream. Overall, this dessert was a memorable way to say goodbye to summer.
