I'm no expert when it comes to oysters, but I know enough to grab a couple of fresh half-shells when in Boston and I was lucky enough to score a lunchtime bar seat at Neptune Oyster House. At the recommendation of the bartender and my neighbor, I ordered four oysters as a warmup to the NBA Finals of lobster rolls. I got to try an Island Creek, Cuttyhunk, Chatham, and Beausoleil: all came out cold, tasted fresh, and had varying levels of saltiness, with the Cuttyhunk being the most flavorful and the Beausoleil being the most unique due to it's slight champagne-like taste. A small cup of mignonette sauce tagged along with the oysters, but since I like to try food without sauces first, I ended up working in tastes of the tangy sauce in between oysters as a sort of palate cleanser. The lobster roll was HoF worthy of course, but be sure not to miss grabbing a few eponymous oysters anytime you're in here.
