scouting report M. Cayabyab
06/15/17 I've had experiences where I casually starting eating my food, then about halfway through I realize "Whoa, this is pretty good. Maybe great." Cochon Butcher's muffaletta wastes no time in letting you know how special it is from the first bite.  The sandwich/butcher shop and wine bar companion to more formal Cajun Southern restaurant Cochon, you'll want to order the muffaletta before even looking at the rest of the great sounding options. Inside the toasted sesame-seed topped, fluffy roll was a thick stack of house-cured meats, with just the right amount of porky flavor and saltiness in between a spread of olive salad and melted cheese. On the side were some sweet, crunchy pickles to work in between quarters of the sandwich. This is the kind of sandwich that somehow you enjoy more with every bite while also dreading that it's disappearing with every bite. I suppose it can be shared if you're as unselfish as Steve Nash, but this sandwich is so good you'll want to gobble up every oil-soaked crumb like Russell Westbrook cleans up missed free throw attempts. If you eat this for lunch, clear your afternoon because this visit will knock you into a satisfied, food-induced haze the rest of your day. One of the best sandwiches I've had.
