A heaping plate of steaming, freshly cooked and pan-fried dumplings. The pork and chives were tasty, the noodles had a satisfying texture contrast between the steamed and fried bits, and a mix of soy sauce and chili oil provides the spicy umami kick to your tastebuds. The dumplings can be eaten on their own, but paired with one of the various noodle soups, a huge lunch can be had for a little over $13 and will warm your belly for hours afterward. Like a late second rounder who immediately works into a championship team rotation, San Dong Noodle House is not flashy and is sometimes overlooked among the almost absurd amount of reliable, quality options in the area, but it offers one of the best values in Houston's best Asian food neighborhood.
