11/08/17 Scoma's is a self-described "pier-to-plate" restaurant that sits right on the wharf overlooking the beautiful SF landscape. This is a classic spot with an old-school vibe that feels a little bit like a time-warp from the moment you walk in. It's a white linen napkin/waiters in suspenders and bowties type of place - which typically isn't my thing - but it's fun to dine at places like this every once in awhile! I'm going to cut to the chase, here. It's hard to go wrong at Scoma's, but if it's your first time, you have no choice - you need to order "Lazy Man's Cioppino." I'm not quite sure why they call it 'lazy man's,' because it tastes like the chef put some WORK in with this bigtime dish! The beyond tasty "Mama" Scoma's rich tomato broth is loaded with fresh seafood deliciousness: crab, prawns, sea scallops, clams, mussels, fresh fish (varies), and calamari. Don't forget to save some of the broth to dip the bread in at the end.
