I love a good steak tartare. When done right, it can serve as a nice complementary start to a meal. While the Pearl District isn't at the top of my list of areas to dine in Portland, Pearl Tavern gets a bigtime fistbump for this dish. In addition to the meat itself, the dish is comprised of mustard, pickles, shallots, and capers, and is served with some herbed crostini. The bread has a great crunch to it and is surprisingly flavorful by itself, yet pairs well with the bright-tasting, caper-forward tartare. This will definitely be in my rotation moving forward. The cocktail program here is on-point, too! This place is 100% worth trying out next time you find yourself in the Pearl District.
